About Us
Our team plan and support activities to encourage each individual child’s unique talents. We give a great deal of time and attention to designing activities that are both fun and educational. We know that you only want the best for your children in all areas of life which is why here at Sandfield Day Nursery, we work alongside parents and carers to provide an enriching, stimulating and caring environment for all children.
We understand that the young people under our care are just getting started in life and they need lots of help, guidance and encouragement as they embark on their new life adventure. Whilst children need to learn how to communicate and work as a team, they also have individual ambitions, dreams and personalities that require a tailored learning experience. We are a day nursery that gives your child the skills they need to make the most of learning through play, whilst embracing their unique talents that set them apart.
We focus on the four themes of the Early Years Foundation Stage to do this:
The Unique Child – is constantly learning through play and adult support, becoming resilient, capable, confident through nurture and supportive play. Through observations and assessments practitioners enable children to develop a positive self-image.
Positive Relationships – Every child is designated their own key person to encourage them to build positive relationships this is crucial as children who feel safe develop strength and independence.
Enabling Environments – Children are supported to lead their own child initiated activities with support by providing them with exciting environments both inside and out.
Learning and Development - Children learn in different ways, at Sandfield Day Nursery we use an online app for parents and carers to see what their child has been doing and share their next steps to further their development.
Sandfield Day Nursery is in the heart of a diverse community and caters for a variety of cultures. Our equal opportunities policy ensures that we value individuals and participate in celebrating many occasions to teach our children the importance of making positive contributions within society.
In the toddler and pre-school rooms we encourage the children to choose activities around their interests each day, inside and out. Alongside these activities staff will plan activities to support children in meeting their next steps.
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage to ensure the seven areas of development can be obtained by a variety of stimulating resources with practitioner support. The seven areas of development are split into prime and specific.
The three prime areas are:
Communication and Language – We provide an environment for all children to become confident communicators.
Personal, Social and Emotional – We help the children to become happy and independent children who can build positive relationships.
Physical – We provide many opportunities for children to be healthy and active learners who can take managed risks in their play.
From the age of three the four specific areas are introduced:
Literacy – Children are supported to develop a love for books and stories.
Mathematics – We provide children with the resources and opportunities to develop and improve a strong understanding of number sense patterns and problem solving.
Understanding the World – We teach children to make sense of their physical world and diverse community.
Expressive Arts and Design – We provide children with the media and materials to successfully express themselves freely through imagination and creativity.
